Man crushed to death by scrap-carrying articulator

An unidentified young man was on Saturday morning crushed to death by a truck carrying scraps at Avenor in Accra.

The deceased was part of a team of mourners returning from the Awudome Cemetery where they had gone to bury a dear one.

Eye witnesses told Adom News’ Salamatu Musah that the deceased was one of two persons that rode on a motorbike from the cemetery.

The eyewitnesses claimed that the motorbike with registration number M 16-GR which he was riding with a colleague was hit by the vehicle carrying the scrap metals.

Sensing danger, one person who sat behind the deceased on the bike jumped off the bike sustaining bruises on his body in the process.

However, the deceased was knocked off the bike by the speeding articulator with registration number GR 5343 A which had suffered a break failure. He died instantly.

The driver of the articulator vehicle carrying the scraps has however been taken to the Tesano Police station as a means of helping him escape a mob attack.

Another vehicle, GM 1871-13 was also rammed into by the articulator.
