Liverpool won't spend money - Klopp

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool will look to enter the transfer market this summer, but insists they will not spend "just for the sake of it".

The Reds had a quiet January transfer period, signing only 19-year-old Marko Grujic and missing out on Alex Teixeira, who ended up moving to Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning.

Despite fans and pundits blaming rocky results on a lack of squad depth, Klopp believes in the squad he has at his disposal and will only look to sign players that represent good business.

"The summer is important and there are several things we need in order to develop," he said in a question and answer session at the Melwood training ground. "One is transfers, the other is time.

"We showed in the January window that we will not be trying to sign players just for the sake of it and because we have money.

"We won't get drawn into a bidding war either because we have a good squad already."

In true Klopp fashion, the German boss threw in some jovial praise for his players.

"It's windy here. It rains and my players train in t-shirts. I stand next to them in four jackets, so I have great admiration for their character!"
