Barcelona have shortlisted Arsenal forward Theo Walcott as a potential target for the January transfer window, according to reports.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, via the Mirror, claim that the La Liga
champions could look to bring the England international to the club
following Rafinha’s injury against Roma in the Champions League on
Wednesday.
Walcott only featured in 14 games in the Premier League
last season as a result of injuries and lack of form, but has already
played a part in four out of Arsenal’s five games so far this campaign.
The
former Southampton man would not be the first player to swap Arsenal for
the Camp Nou, with Emmanuel Petit and Marc Overmars both making the
switch in 2000, followed by Theirry Henry seven years later.
The
Gunners suffered a shock defeat at Dinamo Zagreb in the first of their
Champions League group stage fixtures on Wednesday, and face Olympiakos
at the Emirates on 29 September.
Arsene
Wenger will be without striker Olivier Giroud for the game, the
Frenchman was sent off in Zagreb and Theo Walcott could be the man to
deputise up top.
