Manchester United have been handed a boost ahead of their trip to Southampton with the news that captain Wayne Rooney will be fit to play.
The
England international missed the club’s 3-1 win over Liverpool last
weekend, aswell as the midweek Champions League defeat at PSV, but is
ready to return to action at St Mary’s on Sunday, as per Sky Sports.
Marouane
Fellaini deputised up front in the win over Brendan Rodgers’ side,
while new boy Anthony Martial was handed his first start for the club in
Eindhoven after his substitute heroics against Liverpool at Old
Trafford.
Rooney
broke England’s all-time goalscoring record during the international
break, scoring the second goal in the 2-0 win over Switzerland at
Wembley to take his international goals tally to 50.
The Red
Devils forward will be hoping to recreate his international form at
club-level against a Southampton side who have registered just one win
this season.
