Messi, 27, has now failed to score on 16 of his 72 penalties for Barcelona, some 22%.
More worryingly, he has missed four of his last 10, and no player in La Liga has missed more over the last decade.
But Luis Enrique is not even considering bringing in a new penalty taker.

“Leo is going to take them and that is that,” he said in a press conference ahead of Wednesday’s game with Celta Vigo.
“We have plenty of confidence in him. He is the best.”
Gerard Pique has served his four-game suspension and will return for the tough game with the Galicians, and Enrique is happy to have his big central defender back in the side.
“He’s been out because of a mistake that he made. But getting players back is always good news.”
