President John Mahama has said since assuming power in 2013, his
government has had the peace of mind to govern the country only in the
last two years, as his administration’s first year in office was held
“hostage” by the historic election petition case at the Supreme Court.
He said as short as the period may be, his government’s performance has
been impressive and spectacular as lots of tangible development can be
seen across all the sectors of the economy.
Addressing a teeming crowd of supporters after filing his nomination
forms at the party’s headquarters, President Mahama extolled his
administration for the huge development it has brought in the country,
which is no mean an achievement.
He noted that in the health sector, his administration has ensured an
improvement in healthcare delivery with the provision and allocation of
the necessary equipment to hospitals across the country.
“We have built dozens of polytechnics, hundreds of CHPS compounds,
provided modern diagnostic equipment, CT Scans, MRI machines and also
trained several health professionals, all in a bid to ensure quality
health delivery”.
“We’ve done an equally good job in the transportation sector, we have
built several roads, expansion works on the Takoradi Habour is ongoing
and we’ve also constructed the Kumasi Airport among other several
projects”.
President Mahama urged the party members and supporters to work in
unity to ensure a resounding victory for the NDC in the 2016 election,
for the party to continue its agenda of transforming Ghana for the next 4
years.
