Kabila speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Programme Friday said the defection of the 2008 flagbearer of the party affected the party because many top leaders of the party left with him as well.
“Dr. Nduom's defection (sic) from the CPP really affected us…yes, it did…you see he left with many leaders of the party at the time and at the grassroot, a lot more also left to be with the PPP as well…,” he said.
Dr. Nduom left the Nkrumahist party which he led into the 2008 elections to form his own political party, Progressive People’s Party (PPP) which he led into the 2012 elections.
He exited the party with several other leaders at the time including Lardi Nylander who was the immediate past chairman of the party, Mike Eghan and several other leading CPP leaders.
Kabila says the repercussions of Dr. Nduom's exit have taught him to eschew factionalism if he gets the nod to become the party’s General Secretary.
He further appealed to delegates of the party to vote for him as he seeks to make the CPP vibrant once again for it to become the third force in Ghana’s politics.
“Ghanaians are tired of the NPP/NDC duopoly and their argument about who committed more mistakes than the other…even some of their members are unhappy about that…the time for change is now and it must start with the CPP…,” he said.
