Veep inspects projects in Cape Coast

Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur on Saturday paid a working visit to the Central Region where he inspected the progress of work of two key projects in Cape Coast, the Kotokuraba market and the Cape Coast sports stadium which are almost complete.

He said he was there to inspect the progress and ensure the timely completion of the project, adding he is confident the Cape Coast Sports stadium will be ready by August next year.

The stadium is a 15,000-capacity facility, which is being funded through a $30-million grant by the Chinese government.

Vice President said “the volume of work done after inspection is appreciable and impressive, and he’s informed that 80 percent of the works has been completed.”

The Cape Coast stadium is expected to have eight runway tracks, a natural grass football field, three parking lots, two outdoor basketball courts, one outdoor handball court, a boxing training court, a press conference hall and a media room.

The 15000-capacity stadium is expected to be completed in August 2015 and it is being funded with a $30 million Chinese government grant.

It will also have a medical room, an audience emergency room, two referee rooms, three management rooms, three facility storage, two security rooms, two VIP lobby halls, four athletic lounges, 22 guest rooms with LED electronic display which is ready , audio amplification system which is also ready and a number of track and field sports devices.

Before touring the stadium, he took the opportunity to visit ongoing works at the modern market that is being constructed at Kotokuraba.

Vice president Kwesi Amissah Arthur, noted that the purpose of the visit was to enable him to know the progress of work in order to give proper account of it to the people of Cape Coast.

At the much-awaited Kotokuraba Market, he was briefed by the site engineer Mr. Samuel Wilberforce and was hopeful that the market would be completed on time.

The Vice President after touring the facility was full of praise the local artisans who were working on the project for a good job done so far, adding that he was satisfied with what he has seen , so the need to put in more efforts.
