A deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho, has unequivocally
stated that George Boateng would not be allowed to contest President
John Mahama for the party's flagbearership.
Mr. Boateng has promised to legalise the sale and exportation of
marijuana. But his intention for the country has angered the party. Many
have questioned his mental stability.
“We are not about to sell our [presidential primary] forms to anybody
who wants to legalise the sale of wee. It is as simple as that," Mr.
Anyidoho told Joy News Tuesday.
"Secondly this is the same person who has said that when he gets the
opportunity to become flag bearer of the party, he is going to make Nana
Akufo-Addo his running mate.
"Obviously he has no understanding of the NDC’s guidelines. We are not
going to waste our forms on any such person. It is as simple as that,
nobody will take us to any court, nobody will hold us liable, we will
not sell our forms to George Boateng because if we give it to him he is
going to legalize the sale of wee and we’ll not allow it to happen. It
is as simple as that,” he stressed.
George Boateng, who is a branch youth organizer of the NDC was refused nomination forms on Tuesday at the party’s headquarters.
He had gone to pick the presidential form after it turned out that what he picked a fortnight ago was a draft copy.
Anyidoho was emphatic that nobody can coerce the party to sell the forms to George Boateng.
“We do not condone the export of wee…If the NPP wants him as their flag-bearer, fine; let them have him,” he stated.
The deputy General Secretary restated to his boss' suggestion that Mr. Boateng’s mental capacity is questionable.
“Obviously there is something wrong with him…we don’t want any lunatic to become our flag-bearer,” he said.
“Obviously there is something wrong with him”, he said, adding that the
party is ready to give forms to anybody of “sound mind…but George
Boateng will not get our forms today or tomorrow… and nobody is going to
cut off our head,” he relayed the decision of the national executives
of the party.
The General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the only party
executive authorised to issue presidential nomination forms, although
was in the office never attended to him.
Meanwhile George Boateng, who has voluntarily submitted himself to
psychiatric examination and awaiting result, tells Joy News he will sue
the NDC.
“If tomorrow they refuse to call me, then I will go to the court,” he told Joy News.
He has maintained that he is qualified to lead the nation and must therefore be allow to contest President Mahama.
