“He who wishes to destroy you shall have destruction awaiting him at the
gate of his own success”, sums up AshGold’s triumphant coach, Bashiru
Hayford’s sentiments about his critics after winning his second major
league trophy.
The outspoken manager is laughing off claims by people who chastised him
for a second round performance in the First Capital Plus Premier
League, describing those who made such comments as mere detractors he
never takes serious.
He says he has been always been clear in his mind whenever he sat in the
dug-out since the start of the season the 2014-2015 league trophy
would go the Obuasi.
Emmanuel Osei’s 72nd penalty kick against WAFA last Sunday at the Obuasi
Len Clay Stadium, was enough to hand Coach Bashiru Hayford his second
league diadem.
Speaking on Nhyira Power Sports in Kumasi, he said his side was too
determined to be swayed by destructive comments, especially, seeing
themselves at the top spot right from the second week of the campaign.
The former coach of Asante Kotoko came under heavy criticism for his
alleged poor second half show in the Ghanaian top-flight when AshGold
stumbled in some matches.
“I normally laugh off whenever I heard those critics. We continued to
top the league right after the second match out of the 30 games to be
played. Some people couldn’t understand this as they’ve engaged
themselves with useless thinking and all sorts of comments,” Bashiru
Hayford fumed.
He added: “Allow them to continue talking chaff because that’s what they
do for a living. Many a time, they try to cook up stories which never
yielded any positive results. All what they do is to manufacture and
conjure stories which lack sense. They’re just there as detractors and I
never take them serious as I believe in myself.”
AshGold will receive the league trophy after their final match against Great Olympics in Accra.
The miners last laid their hands on the league trophy 19 years ago.
